“Not my fault!” We learn that phrase pretty early in life… we even learn the actions to go with it before we can talk. Point at someone else and the problem is no longer yours… in theory, that is.
We like to do that, don’t we? Make the problem, do the wrong, but pretend that nothing will happen. Life doesn’t actually work that way, though. When you do the problem, the Lord always knows. Even if your punishment does not occur at the time, He does not forget if we do not repent.
What hope do we have then? Exactly what I mentioned at the last part of that statement. “Repent.”
But if you do warn the wicked person and they do not turn from their wickedness or from their evil ways, they will die for their sin; but you will have saved yourself. Ezekiel 3:19
New International Version
Clearly, turning from sin and asking God to help you live a pure life saves your life. If you try to live it your way or the highway, you will eventually lose everything you know life to be. Hell isn’t pleasant, it is worse than anything you could suffer here on earth.
Do not be like your ancestors, to whom the earlier prophets proclaimed: This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘Turn from your evil ways and your evil practices.’ But they would not listen or pay attention to me, declares the Lord. Zachariah 1:4
New International Version
God gives you chances to repent, even if you don’t want them. When He reaches out to you, take a hold of everything He has waiting. Turn your life around and live life to the fullest. When you repent, you save your life for eternity!
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9
New International Version
He is waiting for you. He wants you. Can you believe that? He wants you. He wants me. He wants your neighbor! He wants your sister! He wants your brother! He wants everyone. Are you going to accept His invitation to life?
