Worship… When?

You’re feelin’ like life stinks today. You really want to pout. What if there was a different option, though? Something much-much better.

Have you ever read the book of Psalms? Many of the Psalms were written by King David and some other writers contributed here and there. Do you see the trend in this book of the Bible, though?

See, it didn’t matter whether the day went good or bad, it was always turned into a worship service for God. Yes, not all the Psalms are talking about roses and dandelions, but they were still used to worship God.

Look at Psalm 55:1-3.

Listen to my prayer, O God, do not ignore my plea; hear me and answer me. My thoughts trouble me and I am distraught because of what my enemy is saying, because of the threats of the wicked; for they bring down suffering on me and assail me in their anger. Psalm 55:1-3

New International Version

Does David sound like he is having a fantastic day? No, not really. But what is he doing? He is singing to God, worshipping Him. I know, you are probably thinking, ‘what ding-dong could get worship out of this?’ This ding-dong right here typing.

The very fact that David has come to God asking something such as this from Him is a sign of worship. To ask something of God is to admit that He is able. To admit that He is able is to worship God. Do you see it now? Good! Welcome to the ding-dong club!

Next time when life stinks, instead of whining and complaining, let’s worship God. Let us bring our problems to Him, not to complain, but to ask for help. Tell Him the problem, say how you know He is able. Sing of all of God’s power, wonder, beauty, love, and so much more. Your praise to God is wonderful.

Don’t just leave it in the hardship, though. Worship all day! In the good and the bad. They did that in the Psalms too.

Look at Psalm 95:1-2.

Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. Psalm 95:1-2

New International Version

Right here, right now, sing praises of worship to God. Tell Him how wonderful He is, sing of what He has done for you, sing of what He will do for you, sing everything about Him!
