Does God Want Me?

What is the one question that everyone asks themselves no matter their age?

I’m sure that at least once you have looked yourself in the mirror and asked, ‘Am I worth anything?’

The answer to this question is easily found in Genesis 1:26-28 and Genesis 2:18;21-24.

Then God said, ‘Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.’

So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

Then God blessed them and said, ‘Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.’ Genesis 1:26-28

New Living Translation

The passage above from Genesis tells that God made you in His image. Would He make someone He didn’t want in His image? Basically, He created you as His child. He chose you as His child.

Then the Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.’… So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. While the man slept, the Lord God took out one of the man’s ribs and closed up the opening. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib, and he brought her to the man.

‘At last!’ the man exclaimed. ‘This one is bone from my bone, and flesh from my flesh! She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken from ‘man.”

This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one. Genesis 2:18;21-24

New Living Translation

The second passage from Genesis shows that He cares about you as well. He saw that Adam was lonely, so He made him a helper. He knew that Adam needed food, so He created the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2:8-9).

Does God want you? Or did you just pop-up out of no where and surprise Him? I think it is very clearly stated that He wanted you.

He took the time to design you. Psalm 139:13 says this exactly.

You [God] made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Psalm 139:13

New Living Translation

Are you wanted by God? Yes, a million times yes. If these passages didn’t convince you, then read the story of Jesus’s crucifixion in Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John. See what lengths God is willing to go to so you can live with Him in eternity.

There is no way that anyone can read the Bible and not know God loves them. If you struggle with this truth, find a trusted mentor with strong faith. Be open, be honest. You ARE loved.
